About us

Life on Earth rests on the ability of plants to use sunlight in their cells to synthesize the organic compounds necessary for the survival of Earth’s entire ecosystem.
Unfortunately, the explosive growth of industrial civilization and some of its technological advancements have seriously endangered the development and survival of the biosphere. The excessive use of synthetic materials in agriculture, the uncontrolled pollution of nature with waste from industry, transport, and other human activities has seriously endangered the ability of the ecosystem to renew itself.

With the clear goal of reducing negative effects on nature in at least one area of human activity, in 1987, a group of scientists from various disciplines working on the AGROVIT project took directed action towards the organic biological production of plants.
Aware that no replacement has been found for the natural process by which plants produce organic matter through the use of simple molecules and sunlight, we had a vision of why and how to make ecologically-friendly products.

Their use reduces the “chemicalization” of agriculture, improves environmental protection by protecting the air, soil, rivers, lakes, and subterranean waters from unnecessary contamination, creating the conditions for the improved growth of plants with better-quality and higher yield.

Along these lines, in 1989, AGROVIT was developed and officially analyzed by the Faculty of Agronomy in Zagreb. AGROVIT is a preparation whose biological, chemical, and physical characteristics provide naturally rich and highly effective plant nutrients, and thus the production of high-quality plants without negative environmental effects.
The path and vision of this project and the efficacy and success of the product have led us not only through in situ research carried out by authoritative institutions in Croatia, Slovenia,

Canada, and South Africa, but through the discoveries of many users who have confirmed the effectiveness of this ecological soil conditioner in their own olive groves, vineyards, orchards, vegetable and flower gardens over the past twenty-seven years.

We have taken a new step after twenty-seven years, and thanks to our presence on the Croatian and international markets, our knowledge, and foreign capital investments, we have founded ECOVIT1989 d.o.o., a company headquartered in Zagreb with a factory in Gorski Kotar. Our product line is filled with carefully selected natural anorganic and plant matter incorporated into ecological products sold not only in Croatia and other EU countries, but also in South Africa under the name ECOVIT.

We have transformed the vision we had in 1987 into products such as AGROVIT and AGROVIT HST that are produced daily. The quality of these products is confirmed by their efficiency and results witnessed by you – our clients – and the fact that they have been certified as eco-friendly both in Croatia and abroad.

We are proud of our products, which contain macro- and micro-elements, activate the passive nutritive potential of soil, improve plant growth, development, and immunity, balance soil structure and pH, and encourage the development of micro- and macro-organisms in the soil.

Their ingredients, quality, application methods, and results throughout the years have confirmed that GOING BACK TO NATURE is the right path.
We are also proud of you, the users of our eco-friendly products. Through the use of these products, you live and act ecologically, and we thank you for recommending the use of AGROVIT and AGROVIT HSF to others on the basis of your positive experiences.

You can surely expect more eco-friendly products from us, just as we expect useful advice and suggestions from you, because you live with your plants and our products and witness positive changes – not only in increased quantity, but in the high quality of our products, which is our basic vision and goal.

Once more, we would like to thank you for your trust, keeping in mind our guiding principle:

Respectfully yours,
Goran Štimac
Managing Director

General approach in plant growing

Before applying AGROVIT to the soil, it is necessary to perform a comprehensive soil analysis at least 60 days prior to harvesting or planting to adjust optimal soil parameters and confirm the amount of AGROVIT necessary. Materials to correct basic soil characteristics for the growing of annual crops are applied to the soil at least 60 days prior to harvesting/planting with the application of 70% of the confirmed dose of AGROVIT, while the remaining dose of 30% is applied together with seeds or seedlings. For planting perennials, exact planting instructions are provided in writing after soil analysis. For the use of machines for planting, instructions are provided in writing after soil analysis.

Growing vegetable crops

For the plantation cultivation of vegetable crops, it is necessary to carry out a comprehensive substrate analysis in order to confirm the optimal dose of AGROVIT and other additives necessary for any potential corrections to soil substrate parameters. A sample of substrate is taken after the harvest (autumn) in order to correct basic soil parameters prior to agricultural operations and to apply the first 70% of the necessary dose of AGROVIT. The remaining dose of 30% is applied immediately before planting or sowing. The average dose of AGROVIT for vegetables is from 45-60g/m2.

Fruit growing

AGROVIT can be applied to all perennials during planting or during any plant developmental stage. In principle, when treating perennials with AGROVIT, it is necessary to perform a soil analysis, which is used to determine how much AGROVIT is needed and what approach should be taken to the application of other necessary components (organic fertilizer, soil pH correctors, etc.).

  • PLANTING - 40% of the confirmed amount of ripe manure/compost/manure briquettes is placed at the bottom of the planting hole, and 40% of the confirmed dose of AGROVIT is spread on top of this. A layer of aerated soil is then placed on top of this, and the seedling is then placed and the remaining space filled in with loose soil. The remaining organic components (60%) and the remaining 60% of the confirmed dose of AGROVIT is applied to the covered root system. The planting hole is then closed and the ground around the seedling is watered/sprayed with 2L/seedling of diluted HSF liquid humus solution cca ten days after planting. HSF liquid humus should be diluted with 1L of liquid HSF to 100L of water. Detailed instructions and treatment methods during planting are provided in the recommendations with the soil analysis findings.
  • DEVELOPED PERENNIALS - When enriching the soil around mature fruit trees, 70% of the amount of AGROVIT confirmed in the analysis is applied after the end of the active growing season in a 7-10cm thick ring around the tree with a radius five times the thickness of the trunk. The remaining dose of AGROVIT is applied in the same way directly before the active growing season. The average dose of AGROVIT is 180-220g/seedling, while the amount for mature fruit trees is from 220-420g/plant. Detailed instructions and treatment methods are provided in the recommendations with the soil analysis findings.

Agrovit HSF

AGROVIT HSF is a liquid, natural, humus fertilizer rich in humic acids, essential macro- and micro-elements, vital amino acids, and natural plant growth and development stimulators.

Agrovit

AGROVIT was first researched and applied to various cultures under various climatic conditions in 1989. AGROVIT is an easily applicable, natural fertilizer, plant growth and development stimulator, and soil enricher. Applied to the soil, it ensures long-term high yield and plant quality while protecting the natural characteristics of the surrounding environment. Completely neutral to humans, animals, and plants. Used across multiple growing seasons, it significantly improves soil fertility and rejuvenates its natural characteristics.
